Warning: We are about to open a

The topic of music, this is a really good one.  In this topic, we will discuss what the Bible teaches us about music and the purpose of it.

We’ll start with the premise.  What does God say about holiness?  What Does God say about identification?  Who are we to identify with?  Are we supposed to fit in with everyone else?  Should the music we listen to and play be the same music as the rest of the world?  Are “Christians” to be separated from the world? (separation will be dealt with in more detail in another topic) However, our premise is that of separation.  The following verses deal with the separation of the Christian:

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever” (1 John 2:15-17).

“Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God” (James 4:4).

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” (Rom. 12:2).

“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world” (Titus 2:11-12).

“And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them” (Eph. 5:11).

God even dealt with separation in Israel:

“Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them” (Ezek. 22:26).

Now that we have set our premise, the discussion will begin.  Come back soon and come back often to join the discussion.  This is topic is one that has plagued the churches today with worldliness and it is very important that this topic be fully understood in a Biblical manner.

I must say, politics and religion bring out the very best and also the worst in folks. The best because both can result in folk being amazingly helpful, the worst as both can result in amazingly obstinate and unreasonable action. I am not having a go at you, your post merely made me realise it, so thanks for that.

I enjoyed your posts, the fact that your site is a little bit different makes it so very interesting, I get fed up of seeing the same old boring recycled stuff all of the time.
